Candle Care
Candle Best Use & Safety
To ensure an even burn:
- Light the wooden wick across the candle
- Allow it to burn until the wax melts out to the edges of the container.
- This may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
This will create an even “melt pool” which will optimize each subsequent burn.
Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time and carefully clip your wick using wick trimmers, nail trimmers or something with a similar blade after each use to 1/4" (basically, get rid of the black bits) for optimal burn and to reduce soot.
Keep candle away from drafts, children and pets and ensure it is placed on a heat safe, secure surface to burn.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. A small fire can turn into a big fire really fast!!!
Once your candle has burned to 1/2" from the bottom of the jar, you can melt the remaining soy wax in very hot soapy water and wipe the beer bottle glass clean and either recycle it or reuse it.
Wood Wick Candle Care
Wooden wicks are a bit different from a traditional cotton wick they burn longer, cleaner, and have a cozy crackling ambiance. But they do require a bit of extra care. Here are our tips and tricks to get the most out of your RECVRD candle:
- Always trim your wick before each use, removing any charred wood from previous burns. If you don’t, the wick may not stay lit long enough to fuel the flame, causing it to extinguish itself. To trim a wooden wick remove all charred wood we suggest using a wick trimmer or nail clippers.
- Always make sure to allow the wax to melt across the ENTIRE diameter of your candle on the first burn- this helps prevent tunneling, which can impact how well the candle burns.
These two simple tips will help your candle burn clean and long for the entire life of your wooden wick candle.
Enjoy!
